Related to the tomato and pepper, the eggplant is named after the long egg shaped fruit, or the unique purplish colour of the fruit.; Eggplant will absorb the flavour of whatever it is cooked with, making it ideal for inclusion into many dishes. Historically in many parts of South Africa the Eggplant was considered a good substitute for meat.

Large dark purple almost black, fruit that tapers towards the stem end, of excellent quality, very tasty fruit.
